Foxglove. The subject for this painting allowed me to pull her from the ground, trace her profile on a sheet of cold paper, shear a few blossoms, refrigerate a few leaves, then replant her. A very compliant model.
Giclée (ghee-clay) is French for "to spray". In short it is a process whereby the original artwork is rendered digitally. Artists at the printery, or atelier, work with the image on a high resolution computer screen to get it completely accurate. Then the image is printed onto a substrate of either canvas or paper. My works are on museum-quality paper using archival inks. I limit my editions to 100 and often add gold leaf or bits of hand coloring.
