Great Blue Heron - Kimono series. The inspiration for this kimono artwork was a wind and rain-buffeted heron hunched on a group of pilings at the ferry terminal in Anacortes. We both were unbothered by the weather even if we appeared a bit grumpy.
Giclée (ghee-clay) is French for "to spray". In short it is a process whereby the original artwork is rendered digitally. Artists at the printery, or atelier, work with the image on a high resolution computer screen to get it completely accurate. Then the image is printed onto a substrate of either canvas or paper. My works are on museum-quality paper using archival inks. I limit my editions to 100 and often add gold leaf or bits of hand coloring.
