Rattlesnake Orchids - Kimono series: Rattlesnake orchids are found throughout the woods on Lopez Island. Clusters of them are veritable clones in that they radiate from the same rhizome (root source). Therefore you will find the white lacey patterns on the leaves nearly identical in neighboring plants. The "models" for this painting were borrowed from behind my woodpile on Hughes Bay.
